Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: January 2025
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) sets out the rules that govern your use of all services provided by EDZNET (“we”, “us”, “our”). By registering for and using our services, you agree to comply with this AUP in full.
We reserve the right to modify this AUP at any time. Continued use of our services after any modification constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. We will notify registered customers of material changes by email.
Violations of this AUP may result in service suspension, account termination, or other actions we deem appropriate. No credits or refunds will be issued for service interruptions resulting from AUP enforcement.
1. Customer Responsibilities
- You are solely responsible for all activities that occur under your account and for the security of your servers, systems, and credentials.
- If your server is found to be the source of, or participating in, an attack on other systems or networks, EDZNET will suspend it immediately and launch an investigation. You will be responsible for all costs incurred in remediating damage caused, charged at our prevailing emergency support rate.
- You must maintain accurate and accessible contact information on your account. Your contact email must remain functional even if your hosted services are suspended or terminated.
- Resellers are responsible for ensuring their end-users comply with this AUP.
2. Prohibited Activities
The following activities are strictly prohibited on EDZNET’s network and infrastructure:
2.1 System and Network Security
- Unauthorised access to, probing, scanning, or attempted breach of any system, network, or account;
- Unauthorised interception or monitoring of data or network traffic;
- Interference with or disruption of any service, server, or network (including mail bombing, SYN flooding, and denial-of-service attacks);
- Forging TCP/IP packet headers or falsifying email or Usenet message headers;
- Conducting or facilitating penetration testing or stress testing of any infrastructure without our explicit prior written consent.
Violators are liable for all costs we incur in cleaning up and remedying damage at our emergency support rates.
2.2 Unlawful Use
- Any activity that violates applicable local, national, or international law or regulation;
- Transmitting, storing, or distributing material that is illegal, defamatory, libellous, tortious, obscene, or harmful;
- Hosting, storing, or distributing indecent images of children (strictly prohibited; will result in immediate termination and referral to law enforcement);
- Facilitating fraud, identity theft, phishing, or any other deceptive practice;
- Harassment, stalking, threats, or abuse directed at any individual or group.
2.3 Intellectual Property
- Transmitting, storing, distributing, or reproducing copyrighted material without a valid licence from the rights holder;
- Storing or distributing trade secrets without authorisation;
- Installing, using, or distributing unlicensed software;
- Knowingly downloading or storing a file that cannot be legally distributed.
2.4 Spam and Unsolicited Email
EDZNET operates a zero-tolerance policy towards Unsolicited Commercial Email (UCE / Spam).
- Sending commercial email to recipients who have not specifically opted in is prohibited;
- Mailing lists must be genuine double opt-in, with confirmation emails requiring an active subscriber response. Confirmation records must be retained and available upon request;
- Forging headers in email messages or obfuscating the origin of email is prohibited;
- Violations will result in immediate investigation, potential network access restriction, account suspension or termination, and may be referred to law enforcement.
2.5 Network Responsibility
- Activities that adversely affect the performance, availability, or security of our network or other customers’ services;
- Attempting to attack or gain unauthorised access to EDZNET’s own servers or network infrastructure;
- Participating in behaviour that causes EDZNET to be subject to third-party reprisals, including being listed on network blacklists;
- IP tunnelling to external networks for DDoS protection or traffic re-routing without our explicit written agreement.
2.6 Resource Usage
- Using server resources (CPU, RAM, bandwidth, storage) in a manner that unreasonably degrades the performance of shared infrastructure or other customers’ services;
- Operating services that consistently generate excessive bandwidth above your contracted allocation without upgrading accordingly;
- Running cryptocurrency mining software unless on a dedicated resource plan where this has been explicitly permitted in writing.
3. Password Security
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your passwords and access credentials. You must not:
- Share account credentials with unauthorised individuals;
- Attempt to guess or crack passwords for any system or account;
- Access any system or account without explicit authorisation from the account owner.
4. Adult Content
Legally permitted adult content is allowed on our network, provided it complies with all applicable UK laws and regulations and does not include any material depicting minors. We reserve the right to notify you of any material that we believe is unlawful or in breach of this policy and to suspend or terminate your service if such material is not removed promptly.
5. DDoS Protection — Fair Use
- All DDoS mitigation services operate on a best-efforts basis. EDZNET does not guarantee complete eradication of all attack traffic in all circumstances.
- Customers on on-demand protection experiencing frequent attacks exceeding 5 Gbps may be required to upgrade to an always-on protection plan, or accept that their IP will be null-routed during attacks until further arrangements are made.
- Customers experiencing frequent large sustained attacks may be required to upgrade to an advanced mitigation plan. EDZNET will provide reasonable notice of this requirement.
- Attacks consistently exceeding 50 Gbps may require migration to an advanced DDoS protection solution. EDZNET will work with affected customers to identify appropriate options.
6. Internet Etiquette
You must conduct yourself in accordance with accepted internet etiquette and the policies of any networks, services, or communities you access via our infrastructure. You must not use our services to engage in behaviour that is likely to result in retaliation against EDZNET’s network or other customers.
7. Suspension
EDZNET reserves the right to immediately suspend your service, without prior notice, if in the judgement of our network administrators your server or account is the source of, or target of, a violation of this AUP, or if your activities are placing the security or integrity of our infrastructure at risk. You will not receive a service credit for time during which your account is suspended due to an AUP violation.
8. Cancellation
EDZNET may cancel your service at any time for a material breach of this AUP. Investigation of a suspected breach may result in deactivation of your account without advance notice. All fees paid in advance are non-refundable if EDZNET exercises its right to cancel under this policy.
9. Indemnification
You acknowledge your indemnification obligations as set out in our Terms of Service. Violations of this AUP may expose you to significant civil and criminal liability.
10. Reporting Abuse
If you become aware of any activity on our network that violates this AUP, please report it to abuse@edznet.io. We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.
11. Disclaimer
EDZNET is under no duty to proactively monitor all customer activity to detect AUP violations. This AUP does not create an obligation on EDZNET to police internet-related activities. However, we will act promptly when violations are brought to our attention or discovered during routine operations.
EDZNET’s decision in all matters relating to this AUP is final.
