My hosting includes free SSL. Why would I buy one?
For a single site on EDZNET hosting, the free certificate is usually all you need. A paid certificate makes sense when the site is hosted on another server, when you want one certificate across many subdomains, when you want a site seal and warranty, or when a client, bank or payment provider asks for a commercial certificate.
What's the difference between DV, OV and EV?
All three encrypt traffic the same way. DV (domain validation) proves you control the domain and is issued in minutes. OV adds checks that your organisation exists. EV is the strictest identity check. OV and EV take 1–5 working days because a person verifies your documents.
What does a wildcard cover?
A wildcard for *.example.com covers example.com and any first-level subdomain such as shop.example.com or mail.example.com. It doesn't cover a second level like eu.shop.example.com — ask us if you need that.
How do I check my current certificate?
Use our free SSL checker. It shows when your certificate expires, who issued it, which names it covers, and whether the chain is complete — with a plain-English fix for anything wrong.
How long does it take?

Can you install it on a server that isn't hosted with EDZNET?
Yes. The certificate works on any web server. Installation on external servers is billed separately as an add-on, or we can supply the certificate files for your own developer.
Certificate lifetimes are getting shorter. What does that mean for me?
