Suspending a cPanel account takes its website, email and cPanel login offline without deleting anything. Resellers usually do this for an unpaid bill or while dealing with a compromised site. Unsuspending puts everything back as it was.
Suspend an account
- Log in to WHM and go to Account Functions › Manage Account Suspension.
- Select the account by domain or by username.
- Enter a Reason, such as "Unpaid invoice" or "Malware found". It's saved with the account so you can see later why it was suspended.
- Click Suspend.
Visitors to the website now see a suspension page and the customer can't log in to cPanel or use their email until you unsuspend the account. Their files, databases and email are kept.
Unsuspend an account
- Go to Account Functions › Manage Account Suspension.
- Select the account. Suspended accounts are highlighted, and the current reason is shown.
- Click Unsuspend.
The site, email and cPanel login work again straight away. Some visitors may still see the suspension page for a short while if their browser has cached it; a hard refresh fixes it.
Good to know
- Suspensions you didn't make. If we suspended one of your accounts (for example for abuse or excessive resource use), it's usually locked and you won't be able to unsuspend it yourself. Open a ticket and we'll explain what needs fixing.
- Your own reseller account. If your reseller account itself is suspended, all your customers' sites go offline. See why hosting is suspended and how to reactivate it.
- Suspend rather than terminate while a problem is being sorted out. Terminating an account deletes it and its data permanently.
