This guide shows you how to add your EDZNET email address to an Android phone or tablet using the Gmail app, which most Android devices include. Samsung's Email app works in much the same way, and the steps are covered below.
Add your account in the Gmail app
- Open the Gmail app, tap your profile picture in the top right, then tap Add another account.
- Choose Other.
- Enter your full email address (e.g.
you@example.co.uk) and tap Manual setup if offered, or Next. - When asked what type of account it is, choose Personal (IMAP).
- Enter your email password and tap Next.
- Incoming server settings: the username is your full email address and the server is
mail.example.co.uk. Tap Next. - Outgoing server settings: leave Require sign-in switched on, use your full email address and password, and enter
mail.example.co.ukas the SMTP server. Tap Next. - Under Account options, choose a Sync frequency (every 15 minutes is a good balance) and whether to be notified of new mail.
- Enter the name you want people to see on your emails and tap Next.
If the app asks for ports or security type, use IMAP port 993 with SSL/TLS and SMTP port 465 with SSL/TLS. The full list is in email settings for mail apps, and cPanel's Email › Email Accounts › Connect Devices page shows the exact server names for your mailbox.
Samsung Email
Open Samsung Email, open the menu, tap the settings cog, then Add account. Choose Other, enter your address and password, then tap Manual setup and choose IMAP account. Enter the same server details as above.
Sync and signature
- Check for mail now: pull down on the inbox to refresh.
- Change how often it syncs: in Gmail, open the menu (top left), tap Settings, choose your account, then Sync frequency. Choose Never if you only want to check manually.
- Add a signature: in the same account settings, tap Mobile Signature, type your signature and tap OK.
Troubleshooting
- "Couldn't open connection to server": check the server name, and that the security type is SSL/TLS with the ports above. If you're on public or work Wi-Fi, try mobile data in case the network blocks mail ports.
- Certificate warning: use the exact server name shown on the Connect Devices page rather than accepting the warning.
- Mail stopped after a password change: update the password on every device. Repeated failed logins can get your IP blocked. See how to get your IP unblocked.
