This guide covers adding your EDZNET email address to Outlook on Windows: classic Outlook (Microsoft 365, Outlook 2021 and 2019) and the new Outlook for Windows. Use IMAP so your mail stays in sync with webmail and your phone.
Classic Outlook (Microsoft 365, 2021, 2019)
- Open Outlook and go to File › Add Account.
- Enter your full email address (e.g.
you@example.co.uk). - Click Advanced options, tick Let me set up my account manually, then click Connect.
- Choose IMAP.
- Enter the server settings:
- Incoming mail: server
mail.example.co.uk, port993, encryption SSL/TLS - Outgoing mail: server
mail.example.co.uk, port465with SSL/TLS (or587with STARTTLS) - Leave Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) unticked.
- Incoming mail: server
- Click Next, enter your email password and click Connect, then Done.
The new account appears in the folder pane on the left. Press F9 or click Send/Receive All Folders to check for new mail straight away.
New Outlook for Windows
- Go to Settings › Accounts › Email accounts and click Add account.
- Enter your email address and click Continue.
- If Outlook can't detect the settings or offers a choice of account type, choose IMAP and enter the same servers and ports as above.
Note that new Outlook syncs non-Microsoft IMAP accounts through Microsoft's cloud, so a copy of your mail is held by Microsoft as well as on our servers. If you'd rather avoid that, use classic Outlook or another app such as Thunderbird.
Troubleshooting
- Can receive but not send: outgoing authentication is required. In classic Outlook, go to File › Account Settings › Account Settings, select the account, click Change and check that the outgoing server uses the same username and password as incoming. If recipients see SPF failures, read fixing the Outlook outgoing server SPF failure.
- Certificate warning: use the exact server name shown on cPanel's Email › Email Accounts › Connect Devices page.
- Deleting mail: with IMAP, deleting a message in Outlook deletes it on the server too, so it also disappears from webmail and your phone.
The full list of ports is in email settings for mail apps.
