How to Set Up Your Email in Apple Mail on a Mac Print

  • 0

This guide shows you how to add your EDZNET email address to the Mail app on a Mac. It only takes a couple of minutes once you have your email password.

Add your account

  1. Open Mail and choose Mail › Add Account from the menu bar.
  2. Select Other Mail Account and click Continue.
  3. Enter your name, your full email address (e.g. you@example.co.uk) and your email password, then click Sign In.
  4. If Mail can't find the settings itself, it says it's unable to verify the account and asks for more details. Fill them in:
    • Account Type: IMAP
    • Incoming Mail Server: mail.example.co.uk
    • Outgoing Mail Server: mail.example.co.uk
    • User Name: your full email address
  5. Click Sign In, make sure Mail is ticked, then click Done.

Alternatively, in cPanel go to Email › Email Accounts › Connect Devices and download the macOS Mail configuration profile. Open it and install it from System Settings.

Check or change the ports

Mail usually picks the right ports itself. If sending or receiving fails:

  1. Go to Mail › Settings (or Preferences on older macOS) and click Accounts.
  2. Select the account and open the Server Settings tab.
  3. Untick Automatically manage connection settings for incoming and outgoing.
  4. Set incoming to port 993 with Use TLS/SSL ticked, and outgoing to port 465 with Use TLS/SSL ticked. Make sure the outgoing user name and password are filled in.
  5. Click Save.

All the settings are listed in email settings for mail apps. If you see a certificate warning, use the exact server name shown on the Connect Devices page rather than accepting the warning.
