A forwarder sends incoming email on to another address. This article covers forwarding a single address, forwarding a whole domain, and why forwarding to Gmail or Outlook.com can cause problems.
Forward one email address
- Log in to cPanel and go to Email › Forwarders.
- Click Add Forwarder.
- In Address to Forward, enter the part before the @ (for example
salesforsales@example.co.uk) and choose the Domain. - Under Destination, choose Forward to Email Address and enter where the mail should go.
- Click Add Forwarder.
The address doesn't need its own mailbox. If a mailbox with that name does exist, it keeps a copy of each message too, so keep an eye on its storage.
To remove a forwarder, find it in the list on the Forwarders page and click Delete.
Forward a whole domain
A domain forwarder sends mail for one domain to the same address at another domain. For example, mail to anything@example.co.uk goes to anything@example.com.
- On the Forwarders page, click Add Domain Forwarder.
- Choose the domain to forward from, enter the domain to forward to, and click Add Domain Forwarder.
Addresses that have their own mailbox or forwarder on the account are still delivered as normal.
Forwarding to Gmail, Outlook.com and similar: read this first
Forwarding to a free email provider works, but it has drawbacks:
- Every spam message that reaches your address gets forwarded too. The receiving provider sees that spam coming from our server, which can harm the server's sending reputation and lead to forwarded mail being delayed or rejected.
- Forwarded mail can fail the receiving provider's SPF and DMARC checks, because it arrives from our server rather than from the original sender's. Some messages may then land in junk or go missing.
A more reliable option is to keep the mail in your EDZNET mailbox and add that mailbox, using IMAP, to the app you already use, such as the Gmail app on your phone. See email settings for mail apps and the guide for Android or iPhone. To see how incoming mail is checked before it's delivered or forwarded, read how our email spam filtering works.
